What do people offer in a Lohri bonfire?

Peanuts, jaggery, sesame seeds, popcorn, and rice are tossed into the fire as offerings on Lohri eve. Once the fire is lit, people dance around, singing their traditional songs. The bonfire represents Lord Agni and is sought blessings for prosperity and happiness.
